Seniors
Seniors with an orthodox mindset may have deeply ingrained beliefs about traditional gender roles and sexuality, and may have negative attitudes towards the LGBTQ+ community. However, there are ways to approach these individuals with respect and understanding in order to improve attitudes towards LGBTQ+ individuals.

One way to improve understanding and acceptance among seniors with an orthodox mindset is through education. Providing accurate and up-to-date information about sexual orientation, gender identity, and the experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals can help break down stereotypes and misconceptions. Education can also highlight the similarities between all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, and promote empathy and understanding.

Another approach is through personal stories and experiences. Encouraging seniors to listen to and learn from the stories of LGBTQ+ individuals can help create a connection and promote understanding. Sharing personal stories of LGBTQ+ individuals who have faced discrimination, but who have also achieved success and happiness, can also help break down stereotypes and promote acceptance.

It's also important to create a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ seniors. This can include training for staff and volunteers on how to create an LGBTQ+ affirming environment, as well as providing resources and support for LGBTQ+ seniors themselves. Creating safe spaces where LGBTQ+ seniors can connect with others who share their experiences can be an important step towards building a more inclusive community.

This is why we are here. To educate. We offer a lot of awareness programs and peer group sessions which seniors can attend and learn.
